Just weeks since the first course was delivered, Castletroy Cabs with partner the Local Employment Service will offer our next two-day course on September 5th and 6th to help individuals who are interested in a career in the SPSV (small public service vehicle) industry, such was the demand following the first course.

Pro-drive is a Castletroy Cabs led initiative whereby we assist fully licensed individuals in attaining their PSV licence.

“We are delighted with the interest we have received in the Pro-drive course, in fact, two drivers from the first course have already sat and passed their PSV licence. The course participants have commented that the course was invaluable in their exam preparation and success,” said Niall Jordan of Castletroy Cabs.

At present there is a shortage of qualified PSV drivers nationwide and the failure rate for PSV licence exams is over 90%. This course, which will run for two days over September 5th and 6th, aims to address that.

“The transport sector is a rapidly changing industry, especially in the SPSV sector where Castletroy Cabs operates. We hope this course will attract individuals from other sections of industry with experience that will add value to the transport sector,” Mr Jordan added.

“This is ideally suited to retired individuals from all walks of life who are looking at doing something different and are flexible. Maybe someone who has recently been made redundant, or individuals who have a full, clean driving licence and wish to work part-time or full-time hours.

“We are not looking to create new taxi drivers but instead qualified, regulated, Transport for Ireland drivers who can add value to the current SPSV business which we see as a tired industry.“

This course will be run by SPSV Training Services in partnership with Castletroy Cabs and the Local Employment Service. It will cover regulation and Limerick area knowledge training.

Job seekers looking to apply for this training course should contact the Intreo Office or the Local Employment Service to see if they qualify for assistance with course fees €330 and examination cost €70.

There are a limited number of places for this course, those interested should contact 061 419388 or email info@les.ie alternatively contact Castletroy Cabs direct at 061 332266.
